Being a royal state, Rajasthan has many magnificent forts and historical monuments. Rajasthan has witnessed the history of many kings and Maharajas, who have left evidence of their reign as these adorable monuments and forts. These historical forts in Rajasthan are known for their spectacular architectural beauty and attract tourists from all over the world. Many of these forts and monuments are located in Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Ajmer, Jaisalmer, Ranthambore, and other cities. So, see below some important monuments of Rajasthan.

City Palace Udaipur:

Situated on the banks of Lake Pichola, City Palace is an architectural masterpiece. It is one of the finest palaces in the city of Udaipur. It was built about 400 years ago. It is actually the largest palace complex in the state of Rajasthan. Built on a hilltop in Mughal and Rajasthani architecture, this palace offers a panoramic view of the entire city and Lake Pichola.

Amer Fort:

The Amer Fort was originally built by Raja Man Singh in 1592 and later developed by Sawai Jai Singh. Amer Fort is one of the most famous tourist destinations not only in Jaipur but also in Rajasthan. Made of red sandstone and marble, this fort has four floors. There are separate courtyards on each floor. 


Kumbhalgarh Fort:

Talk about Rajputana buildings and you do not think about Kumbhalgarh Fort, it cannot happen. Kumbhalgarh Fort is one of the largest forts in India. Kumbhalgarh is the birthplace of Maharana Pratap. It is the most sought-after fort in Mewar after Chittorgarh Fort. The fort wall spans 36 km, making it the second largest wall after the 'Great Wall of China'.

Hawa Mahal:

Hawa Mahal is an integral part of Jaipur's identity. It is actually one of the most popular tourist attractions of the Pink City. Hawa Mahal literally means the site of the winds. It is a high screen wall built for women of the royal family. The palace is made of red and pink sandstone and is situated on the edge of the City Palace. 

Jaswant Thada:

A white marble memorial has been built near Jodhpur fort Mehrangarh called Jaswant Thada. It was built in the year 1899 in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh Ji (II) of Jodhpur (1888-1895) by his successor Maharaja Sardar Singh Ji. This place is reserved for the cremation of members of the Jodhpur royal family.
